About Alumni

1. Introduce yourself?

My name is Ruba Musa Jamil Musharbash. I completed my Master's degree in Nutrition and Food Technology in 2008 and my Ph.D. in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2018. I have been working as a clinical dietitian since my graduation in 2003, in various clinics and hospitals, managing numerous patients and prescribing therapeutic diets. I was the first teacher to introduce and teach Nutrition and Food Technology for IGCSE students in Jordan for 10 years. I have been presenting nutrition segments on various TV and radio channels since before 2011, and since 2011, I have been presenting a nutrition segment on Roya TV. I established two websites: www.rubadiet.com for diet services and www.nutriwisejo.org for specialized courses. I also conduct professional training courses in nutrition, author children's books about nutrition, and collaborate with researchers on various nutrition and diet-related studies. Additionally, I run my private center for clinical nutrition.

2. Share your fondest memory from your time at Jordan University?

My most cherished memory is meeting my colleagues and professors who supervised my studies, as the environment felt like a family. Another unforgettable moment was the day I defended my Ph.D. thesis, which is one of the dearest days to my heart.

3. In one word, how would you describe Jordan University?

Inspiring

4. Explain how your experiences at UJ shaped you?

My time at the University of Jordan contributed significantly to developing my academic and professional personality. Earning a degree from one of the most prestigious universities in Jordan greatly advanced my career and opened many opportunities for me.

5. Discuss what fascinated you about your chosen course of study?

What I loved most about my major is seeing the progress and improvement in my patients. It brings me joy to see their medical tests and mental health improve. I also enjoy working with children by planning therapeutic diets for them and providing calorie-counted, healthy recipes for my patients. Nutrition serves as a complementary therapy to medical supervision and medications, which makes it a rewarding field to work in.

6. Offer advice to graduating students preparing to enter the workforce?

I advise students to work hard and seize the opportunities available at the university to gain knowledge and practical experience. Patience and persistence are key to achieving their professional goals. I also encourage them to continuously develop themselves by attending workshops and staying updated in their field.

7. Reflect on what you wish you had known during your time as a student?

I wish I had known the importance of keeping up with marketing and advancements in this field, as they have a significant impact on career development. I encourage students to start conducting and publishing research early in their studies. Additionally, enhancing skills through attending courses related to medicine, sports, and medications is essential, as they complement the field of nutrition.

8. Identify the person who has had the greatest impact on your career?

My family and parents have had the greatest influence by supporting and encouraging me to achieve my dreams. My professors at the University of Jordan also played a pivotal role in guiding me and enriching my academic and research skills. Furthermore, the patients I worked with throughout my career have deeply influenced my journey, as their challenges inspired me to offer comprehensive and effective therapeutic solutions.
