About Alumni

1. Introduce yourself?

I'm Hya Alnobani, a passionate entrepreneur and the founder & CEO of Fluencia, where we're revolutionizing English language learning for Arabic speakers. With a specialization in Applied Linguistics and Translation, I've dedicated my career to creating innovative learning experiences that equip learners with practical communication skills for real-life scenarios.

2. Share your fondest memory from your time at Jordan University?

One of my fondest memories is the time I spent working with students, where I took on the responsibility of explaining English 100 and 99 concepts to my peers. Those moments not only reinforced my own understanding but also taught me the value of communication, patience, and leadership—skills I carry into my work and leadership role at Fluencia today.

3. In one word, how would you describe Jordan University?

4. Explain how your experiences at UJ shaped you?

My time UJ laid the foundation for my analytical and leadership skills. It instilled in me the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world application—a principle I apply daily at Fluencia.

5. Discuss what fascinated you about your chosen course of study?

Applied Linguistics fascinated me because of its focus on how language shapes understanding and communication. This inspired me to explore how technology and immersive methods can enhance language acquisition, leading to the creation of Fluencia.

6. Offer advice to graduating students preparing to enter the workforce?

Focus on building skills that complement your academic knowledge. In today's fast-paced world, adaptability, networking, and continuous learning are key to standing out and achieving your goals.

7. Reflect on what you wish you had known during your time as a student?

I wish I had known the power of interdisciplinary learning. Combining my linguistic expertise with technology and entrepreneurship earlier would have broadened my horizons even more.

8. Identify the person who has had the greatest impact on your career?

The greatest impact on my career was my mentor during my early professional years, professor Hady Hamdan who taught me how to turn passion into purpose. Their guidance encouraged me to push boundaries and embrace innovation in my work.
