About Alumni

1. Introduce yourself? 

With over two decades of expertise in data science and artificial intelligence (consulting and implementation), I have been a pioneer in driving data-driven transformation across various industries. My strong academic background includes a Higher Data Scientist Degree from IBM and King Abdulaziz University (2016), Data Science & Machine Learning Badges from IBM (2016), a master's degree in Statistics from the University of Jordan (2007), and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the Hashemite University (2004).

Throughout my career, I have excelled in developing AI and machine learning solutions, building advanced data models, and applying statistical methodologies to generate actionable insights. As a leader in strategic planning and business intelligence initiatives, I have guided organizations toward making informed, data-driven decisions. I have worked with the Berkeley Research Group on critical projects for the Saudi Ports Authority and has provided consulting services to AI steering committees in Jordan and Japan.

Technically proficient in a wide range of tools, including Python, R, Power BI, IBM SPSS Modeler, and IBM Watson Studio, he ensures secure and efficient data management processes. I have been instrumental in establishing data science departments, such as the one at Cairo Amman Bank, and have spearheaded significant AI integration projects for public entities like Dubai RTA, DEWA, and Abu Dhabi Police College.

Additionally, I manage risks and drives organizational change by developing resilient strategies and offering technology and infrastructure consulting to support advanced data analysis and modeling. My commitment extends to training and upskilling teams, where I design and delivers advanced AI and data science programs, empowering professionals across various sectors.

With a proven track record of consulting for high-level entities such as the UAE Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense, my career is characterized by a deep dedication to innovation and excellence in AI and data science. This blend of strategic oversight, technical expertise, and educational leadership underscores my role as a Chief Data Scientist & AI Consultant and Expert.

3. In one word, how would you describe Jordan University?

The Lighthouse.

4. Explain how your experiences at UJ shaped you?

The time felt like a reservoir of enriching discussions with experts and researchers in the field, significantly contributing to the continuous and ever-growing expansion of my knowledge base.

5. Discuss what fascinated you about your chosen course of study?

The challenge lies in transforming this purely theoretical specialization into a pathway to reaching the pinnacle of the business world, where creativity and innovation shine in turning ideas into impactful realities.

6. Offer advice to graduating students preparing to enter the workforce?

As a mathematics graduate, my advice to students entering the workforce is to leverage the versatile problem-solving and analytical skills you've developed during your studies. Mathematics forms the foundation for various industries, so consider exploring roles in finance, data analysis, technology, education, and research. Stay curious, continue learning new tools like programming or data science, and don't shy away from interdisciplinary opportunities. Network with professionals, seek mentorship, and focus on applying mathematical thinking to real-world challenges, which will set you apart in a competitive job market.
