About Alumni

1.    Introduce yourself?

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology from the University of Jordan, obtained in 1994, and a Master's degree in Archaeology from the University of Jordan, obtained in 1997.

I have extensive experience in the field of archaeology and cultural heritage, having held several positions, including Assistant Director-General for Technical Affairs. I currently serve as the Acting Director-General of the Department of Antiquities.

2.    Share your fondest memory from your time at Jordan University?

My fondest memory at the University of Jordan is participating in field trips, where I explored Jordanian archaeological sites and applied theoretical knowledge practically on the ground.

3.    In one word, how would you describe Jordan University?

Inspiring

4.    Explain how your experiences at UJ shaped you?

My time at the university helped me acquire academic and practical skills in archaeology. I gained valuable knowledge in the field, built relationships with professors and colleagues, and enhanced my scientific and professional development.

5.    Discuss what fascinated you about your chosen course of study?

What I liked about studying archaeology is the excitement of discovery, the integration of scientific research with historical analysis, and the direct interaction with Jordan's archaeological sites in a tangible way.

6.    Offer advice to graduating students preparing to enter the workforce?

I advise students to make the most of available opportunities, not to hesitate to ask questions and explore different aspects of their field, and to develop practical skills as they are key to success in this field.

7.    Reflect on what you wish you had known during your time as a student?

I wish I had realized the importance of developing modern technical skills in documenting and analyzing archaeological sites, such as using 3D scanning technologies and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

8.    Identify the person who has had the greatest impact on your career?

My professors at the University of Jordan had a significant impact on my professional journey, as they inspired me with a passion for knowledge and research. Additionally, my colleagues at the Department of Antiquities supported me with their expertise and practical experiences.
