1. Introduce yourself? My name is Professor Anas Ratib Alsoud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU). I am also a Global Higher Education Innovation Fellow at Harvard University. I specialize in informatics, electronic business, and higher education policy, and I've had the honor of contributing to academic development and university rankings across the Arab region for over 15 years. Anas is a professor of Informatics (electronic business and commerce). I hold a BSc in computer information systems from the University of Jordan (2006), MSc in managing information technology from Salford University – UK (2007), and PhD in Informatics from the University of Reading – UK (2012).
| 2. Share your fondest memory from your time at Jordan University?
One of the most unforgettable moments during my time at the University of Jordan was winning the 2005 student union elections and being elected as Chairman of the Student Council at the King Abdullah II School for Information Technology. It was a moment of great pride and responsibility. That experience taught me the true meaning of leadership, representation, and the power of student voice. It shaped my confidence, sharpened my communication skills, and laid the foundation for my future in academic governance and public service.

Transformative
| 4. Explain how your experiences at UJ shaped you.?
The diversity that the University of Jordan has, provided me with more than just academic knowledge, it cultivated a mindset of critical thinking, public responsibility, and a deep appreciation for the role of education in shaping nations. It was the launchpad for my journey into academia, innovation, and leadership.
| 5. Discuss what fascinated you about your chosen course of study?
Studying Computer Information Systems fascinated me because it combined the logic of computing with the strategic impact of information. I was drawn to how technology could solve real world problems, transform industries, and improve lives. The dynamic nature of the field-bridging software, data, and business, kept me intellectually challenged and inspired me to pursue a lifelong career at the intersection of technology, education, and innovation. | 6. Offer advice to graduating students preparing to enter the workforce?
Embrace adaptability and lifelong learning. The degree you earn is only the beginning, the mindset you cultivate and the networks you build will define your path. Stay curious, stay humble, and never stop evolving. | 7. Reflect on what you wish you had known during your time as a student?
I wish I had realized earlier how important it is to think globally while acting locally to connect your academic efforts to real-world impact, and to build relationships beyond your field of study. | 8. Identify the person who has had the greatest impact on your career?
The greatest influence on my career has been my father, Professor Ratib Alsoud. As a former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, senator, and member of parliament, and now a proud faculty member at the University of Jordan, he has always embodied the values of integrity, public service, and academic excellence. Growing up, I was inspired by his dedication to education and nation-building. His guidance, example, and unwavering belief in the power of knowledge continue to shape every step of my journey.
