Professor Dr. Aladdin Al-Halhouli


Professor Aladdin Al-Halhouli is the President of the German-Jordanian University in Amman, Jordan, and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the German-Jordanian University.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mutah University, Jordan, in 1999, his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Jordan in 2001, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Jordan in 2007. In 2013, he obtained the Habilitation (Venia Legendi) in Microfluidics from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany.

In 2005, Dr. Al-Halhouli was awarded a DAAD scholarship to conduct doctoral research on viscous micropumps at the Institute of Microtechnology (IMT, TU Braunschweig) in Germany. Between 2007 and 2013, he served as a research associate and lecturer at the IMT, and in June 2015, he was a visiting professor at the Nano Lab at Tufts University in the United States. Since February 2013, he has held the title of Visiting Researcher at IMT.

He also served as the Dean of the School of Applied Technical Sciences, and the Dean of the School of Applied Humanities and Languages at the German-Jordanian University. In addition, he was Vice President of Middle East University in Amman, Jordan, and later served as its President from 2019 to 2021.

Dr. Al-Halhouli has published over 70 research papers in international journals and conferences. He has received numerous awards, including:

  • The German-Jordanian University Award for Distinguished Researchers (2014),

  • The Best Poster Award at the MEMS Alliance, Georgetown University, Washington D.C., USA (2009),

  • The Cray Award for Best Published Paper in Microtechnology / Microsystem Technology, Braunschweig, Germany (2007).​
