Dr. Hind Abu Al-Shaar


​She studied History at the University of Jordan, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s degree in 1983, and a Doctorate in 1994.

She worked in the Secondary Schools Administration at the Ministry of Education before moving to teach at the University of Al al-Bayt from its establishment in 1994. During that time, she served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the “Al-Shoura” newspaper published by the university and as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

She later moved to the University of Jordan as the Director of its Library and Publishing House, before returning to teach History at the University of Al al-Bayt. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of the university’s journal, “Al-Bayan,” and served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Zaytoonah University of Jordan.

Awards:

  • UNESCO Silver Medal for the “Memory of the Nation” series.
  • “Best Book of 2002” Award from Philadelphia University in 2003 for her book Eastern Jordan in the Ottoman Era.
  • King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein Medal for Excellence and Creativity in 2016.
  • State Appreciation Award in the Humanities in 2021.
