Dr. Nasser Shabana


He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature from the University of Jordan in 1991, followed by a Master’s degree in Modern Literature in 1995, and a Doctorate in Modern Literature and Criticism in 2000. He worked as a teacher at the Ministry of Education and as an editor at Al-Dustour newspaper. He has published his poetry in local and Arab journals and participated in several literary festivals. He has authored many poetry collections.

Awards:

  • 1999: First Place in the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity in the Poetry category from the Department of Culture and Media in Sharjah for his collection Shuqooq al-Turaab.
  • 1999: Awarded the King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein Medal for Excellence, First Class Gold.
  • 2001: Received the “Creativity in Criticism” Award from Al-Sada magazine, published in Dubai, UAE, for his manuscript Al-Bunyaat al-Mutaḥawila.
  • 2008: Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children's Literature for the 2007/2008 cycle for his poetic manuscript Sadeeq al-Nujoom.
  • 2018: Habiib Al-Zayoudi Poetry Award for his poetry collection Ahlam Waraqiya.
