Professor Ziad Hegazy


Dr. Ziad Hegazy graduated as a physician from the University of Jordan in 1982 and joined the Jordanian Royal Medical Services for one year. In 1984, he earned a Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University in the United States. Dr. Hegazy continued his training at Yale University, completing a residency in Pediatrics and obtaining a Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology. After completing his fellowship, he joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

He served as President of the American Society of Interventional Cardiology

Dr. Hegazy was awarded the Vision Award by the Children’s Heart Foundation in Chicago, USA.

He has achieved many significant accomplishments, including establishing a prominent Pediatric Cardiology program that is recognized both locally and internationally for its outstanding clinical services and innovative techniques. Dr. Hegazy became the Director of the Rush Center for Congenital and Structural Heart Disease at Rush University Medical Center and, in 2008, he was appointed President of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the leading organization for catheter-based heart disease treatment with over 4,000 members worldwide. In 2010, he received the “James Hunter Endowed Chair.”

Currently, Professor Ziad Hegazy serves as the Chair of Pediatrics at Sidra Medicine and holds the position of Medical Director of the Center of Excellence.​
