He currently holds the position of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and has previously served as Minister of Environment, and also served as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in 2009.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College Durgapur/India in 1991, a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Jordan in 1994, and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Florida in 2003.
